These are the favored cookies in our family. My husband has been known to make the 2 hour drive to his parents house in order to have these fresh baked by his mom. These babies are heavy on dark chocolate. They are absolutely delish! They are in the top 3 cookies I have ever tasted!
1 ¼ cup whole wheat flour (white flour works too) 2 ¾ cups flour
1 ½ cups Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa powder ½ cup oatmeal
2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon salt
2 cups (4 sticks) butter 1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 large eggs 2 ½ pkg (10 oz pkg) Hershey Special Dark chocolate chips
1 cup nuts (optional)
Cream butter, sugars, vanilla extract and eggs until creamy. Sift flour, cocoa, salt, and soda together and combine with creamed ingredients. Add chocolate chips and nuts. Bake at 325° until set (about 11 minutes). If they appear to be a little flat add 1/8 to ¼ cup more flour.
